The cinema experience should start as soon as the customer enters the cinema.  That’s exactly what Academy Cinemas in Auckland’s CBD are achieving through having digital signage installed into their lobby – not only a more modern environment, but also the benefits of efficiency and added sales.  Hydro Media provided digital menu boards to display snack and drink options, as well as a digital promotional screen to showcase the cinema’s upcoming events and to promote snack specials.

Previously the cinema staff were updating the snack bar menu by writing on a blackboard.   Now with digital menu boards, content is updated quickly and efficiently via an easy-to-use solution.  The digital screens are eye-catching, save time and money in updating content and minimising printing costs, and have already proven to have increased purchases at the snack bar.  In the first week of the digital promotional screen being installed, the cinema received an uptake in sales for the menu items being promoted.
